Since You've Been Gooooone!
Ok, I've been gone and yes - there is a Kelly Clarkson reference in this post about cool home decor I've found recently. Follow the bouncing ball.
Some might say that you shouldn’t start a substack if you’re a hyper avoidant nuerodiverse little bird who sometimes feels completely overwhelmed and, though writing really helps unpack that overwhelm, you’re also completely capable of avoiding things that make you feel better too - and to that I say, perhaps and “lol.” (note) The above is likely a run on sentence.
I spent the summer questioning everything, worrying, settling into a new town, trying to enjoy the little things, centering in gratitude for the big things and trading an alarming number of memes back and forth in my family group chat aptly named “Goon Squad”.
Decorating as been an interesting journey. The tale of a girl with too many things trying to make them work while simultaneously trying not to throw everything away and start over. My bedroom has very much become a sanctuary as it’s the most complete of all my rooms.
The weather is finally breaking in Palm Springs (kinda) and I’ve been promised cooler months ahead. This would be the perfect time to get my garage in order and make it feel a little less terrifying hoarders den and a lot more chic storage and art studio. So, I’ve been having someone skim coat the walls and since no good deed goes unpunished, we found an electrical issue that I’m addressing. But in the end it’s going to be amazing and I cannot wait to share the transformation with you!
Beyond those fun little updates I’ve been doing a ton of scouring the internet for great finds, both vintage and contemporary. It’s brought back so many old school blogger vibes and I’m kind of obsessed. For example, in sharing some of the literal bangers I keep finding on Wayfair, I accidentally discovered that a bunch of things I kept picking to share were from Kelly Clarkson’s home line. I know, “huh?!” It’s good, swear!
This was a little nod to french country round up I did by request from a IG follower who loves the style but isn’t big on shopping second hand for soft furniture etc. Ms. Clarkson out here being cute cute! One of the reasons I love doing things like this is because I like imagining even outside of the context of my own personal desires. Most of this wouldn’t work in my little mid century bungalow in the desert but, it’s fun to figure it out for someone else. If you’re ever curious or wanting to check out my shopping edits you can always find them in my Amazon Storefront, on my LTK and I’ll get better at sharing them here as well.
Other fun stuff you might have missed is that we have two new episodes of Home Decor Homies live! If you didn’t know, I do a fun home tour series where friendship and home decor meet. We hang, and you get to see really cool spaces from creative folks around the country (soon to be world?!) The first is with Ethan Gaskill, he’s an LA based content creator I met online nearly a year ago and we’ve since become buds through work and a shared love of interiors. The second is with Lindsay O’brien who I met at a flea market in LA.
Now that we are mostly caught up, Ill see you again VERY soon.
Love you, mean it!
Kellie
