Me Clean Pretty One Day
This is a Saturday chores procrastination post, BUT - I do think I've solved all of our problems. Big claim. Did I prove it?!
Growing up, Saturday mornings were for chores. You live your best life Friday night after school. We usually got to have something fun for dinner like pizza or some sort of family activity and you get to stay up late watching TGIF. ABC in the ‘90’s was iconic, and the youths of today will never know it’s greatness. Then, Saturday morning rolled around and my mom an early bird, was up at the crack of dawn - doing laundry, making breakfast, giving my sister and me a slightly later than school day wake up and boom: chores.
The tradition remains the same but with a lot of, adult me has free will concessions. I’m a little messy but I hate mess. Daily pick-ups are almost always necessary because my family nickname Hurricane Kellie - was born of some truths. I also exercise my free will to use a house keeper twice a month to help with some of the heavy lifting.
As someone who needs a reward for all unpleasant tasks, I went on the hunt to make cleaning and all things related less ugly. I employ all the usual dopamine producing tactics: loud fun music - alternating to podcasts as needed. Quick tangent, I did listen to David Sedaris on a podcast recently - he’s coming to Palm Springs to read and I’ll sadly be busy that day. I never finished a book as quickly as Me Talk Pretty One Day. I would be cracking up on the subway in NYC, looking fully unhinged reading while reading.
Anyhoo, outside of motivating audio to get the cleaning and organizing brain activated - we should also be rewarded with incredibly chic cleaning accoutrement. Here are a few things that can make undesirable tasks, cute.
Love you, mean it!
xx Kellie
